The City of Tucson’s Information Technology Skills Alliance is now accepting applications for full scholarships

Fully subsidized IT Training Scholarships worth $5,000 to qualified applicants will be awarded.

Qualified applicants will receive free online CompTIA A+ training, mentoring by an IT industry expert, certification vouchers, and job placement assistance. 

About the Maryland Cyber Skills Alliance

The Maryland Cyber Skills Alliance (MCSA) is seeking to address Maryland’s shortage of skilled cyber security workers by providing training that leads to industry-recognized certifications and maps directly to IT job roles. The MCSA will provide essential training for both incumbent workers and hard-to-reach unemployed populations in Montgomery, Frederick and Prince Georges counties.

About the Cybersecurity Training and Certification Grant Program

  • NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY.
  • ​$10,000/student total value of the Certification training and certification education.
  • ​High-quality CompTIA instructors will teach the classes using virtual online training.
  • ​After training, instructors will help prepare each student to take the A+ and Security+ exams.
  • ​The program will include: Official CompTIA courseware, CertMaster Learn, faculty instruction, two certification exam vouchers and job placement assistance. 
  • ​The consecutive 5-week Cybersecurity Program Training will teach directly to the A+, Security+ exam objectives and touch on Network+ foundations.
  • ​Job Placement Support. Direct support from our Transmosis® Job Placement and Program Management Team. Local job interviews through the Maryland Cyber Skills Alliance (MCSA).

Who May Apply

  • NO INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY EXPERIENCE NECESSARY.
  • This is an exclusive grant opportunity for qualified Tucson residents only.
  • Particular focus on the unemployed, under-served, minorities, veterans, and low-wage career changers.

*A part-time commitment of ~15 hrs. per week, mostly on-demand, online remote is expected to be successful in this program. Most training hours can be scheduled on your own time, including weekends.

Joel Vengo was unemployed when he enrolled in the EARN Maryland Transmosis Virtual Security Operations Center training. He earned a CompTIA Security+ certification along with successful hands-on vSOC externship instruction with our transmosisONE company division. He was hired out of our program with a full-time position with Deloitte as a Cloud Engineer Consultant with a starting wage of $53 per hour.
Totti Nsobundu was a part-time college student and unemployed when he enrolled in the EARN Maryland Transmosis Virtual Security Operations Center training. He earned a CompTIA Security+ certification and was hired full-time before he even began our phase 2 transmosisONE hands-on vSOC externship instruction. He now works in Maryland in an IT-Cybersecurity position with a starting wage of $52 per hour.
